Wheel Refurbishment and Tyre Refit Process
Vehicle Drop-Off
- Customer drops off their vehicle at the workshop.
- The vehicle is inspected to confirm the service required.
Wheel and Tyre Removal
- The wheels are removed from the vehicle.
- Tyres are carefully dismounted from the wheels.
Wheel Stripping
- The wheels are stripped of their old coatings.
- The wheels are then sandblasted to remove any remaining coating and bring them back to bare metal.
Wheel Damage Repair
- All curb damage (scratches, chips, and scuffs) is repaired by sanding the affected areas.
- For deeper gouges or more significant damage, TIG welding is used to fill the imperfections.
- The welded areas are smoothed and prepared for powder coating.
Powder Coating Preparation
- Once the wheels are repaired, they are thoroughly cleaned and prepped for powder coating.
- Any residual dust, dirt, or grease is removed to ensure a flawless finish.
Powder Coating Process
- The wheels are coated with the customer’s chosen colour and finish (high gloss or satin).
- The powder coating is applied evenly, ensuring full coverage and a durable finish.
- The wheels are then baked in an oven to cure the powder coat and harden the surface.
Tyre Refit and Balancing
- Once the powder coating process is complete and the wheels are cooled, the tyres are refitted onto the wheels.
- Each tyre is rebalanced to ensure optimal performance and to prevent vibrations when driving.
Reassembly and Reinstallation
- The newly refurbished wheels with tyres are carefully refitted back onto the vehicle.
- The wheel nuts are torqued to the manufacturer’s specifications.
Final Inspection
- A thorough inspection is conducted to ensure the wheels are properly coated, tyres are securely fitted, and the vehicle is ready for safe use.
Customer Pickup
- The customer is notified that their vehicle is ready for pickup.
- Upon arrival, the customer is provided with a detailed overview of the work completed.
